We made global security trainingengaging and accessible.

The project story

The Cummins Global Security team partnered with BLP, now TiER1 to create a blended learning curriculum for a global audience of 55,000 employees and contractors. The curriculum, branded as “Safe.Sure.Secure.”, uses foundational courses, reinforcement activities, and job aids. Because IAP is so critical, the training topics and objectives require a multi-layered approach to establish and reinforce appropriate behaviors.

Cummins

Cummins Inc. is an American Fortune 500 corporation that designs, manufactures, and distributes engines, filtration, and power generation products. Headquartered in Columbus, Indiana, Cummins sells in approximately 190 countries and territories through a network of more than 600 company-owned and independent distributors and approximately 6,000 dealers.

Cummins, Inc. is the global leader in diesel and natural gas engines and related technologies. Because of its position in the industry, the security of sensitive information is a top priority. The Cummins Global Security team is tasked with creating Information Asset Protection (IAP) policies and procedures to protect this sensitive information, and to educate employees on how to follow them.

  • Two foundational courses are provided to all Cummins employees and contractors. They are scenario-driven courses with a series of simple activities to introduce IAP procedures. The courses are also available in an instructor-led format for certain audiences.
  • Short reinforcement activities ensure knowledge transfer of learning concepts from the Foundations courses. Activities range from a series of short vignettes where learners see the real-life outcomes of their choices to an arcade-style game where they score points by identifying strong and weak passwords.
  • An online toolkit presents reinforcement activities and job aids in a magazine format. Job aids are available throughout the curriculum and provide information that learners can look up. Job aids can easily be added as topics and needs expand. BLP, now TiER1 leveraged its proprietary eMag platform to integrated new solutions with resources Cummins had already developed to create a one-stop-shop of reference tools and resources.

“BLP (now TiER1) helped develop resources to address and mitigate global threats facing employees, facilities and information assets. They created a multitude of interactive modules that fit within a one-stop-shop Security Toolkit designed to help our employees access and navigate our security resources and learning portals. Their product has been globally acclaimed and we look forward to continuing our future collaboration with them.”
